Meet our Licensed Providers

Joshua is a licensed professional counselor with 7 years of experience providing mental health services. He has a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is specifically trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma based therapy designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. Specific services include working with children, adolescents, and adults within individual and group therapies to assist individuals with addressing various barriers stemming from depression, anxiety, grief, and personality disorders. He also has experience working with Veterans, Sexual Abuse/Rape Victims, and Physical and Domestic Abuse, with adolescent and adult populations. Life is full of obstacles and having someone to walk the journey with you can make those barriers change from impossible to possible. As a therapist, he works closely with those he provides services to in order to have a strong therapeutic relationship. Providing good quality of care is his priority and he considers himself to be empathetic, genuine, and empowering to those around him no matter who the person or what type of situation/barriers that person may be going through.

Christy Smith, LCSW

Christy

Christy has spent the past 9 years treating people with various mental health challenges, including Generalized Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, OCD, and Bi-Polar I or II Disorders to name a few. Christy specializes in treating OCD using ERP (Exposure and Respond Prevention), and in disorders first diagnosed in infancy, children or adolescents (utilizing Play Therapy techniques) speaking the language of children using the art of play to assist them in expressing their emotions. Similarly, in her career as a therapist, she has provided evidenced-based treatment to a wide array of populations not limited to children, adolescent, adults or couples.
Christy understands that it can be difficult to share your personal /traumatic experiences. It is her role to both educate and guide you as well as create a non-judgmental environment for you to grow. One of Christy’s strongest assets is connecting with people and she wants you to feel comfortable enough so that you’re not thinking about the process. It starts with having good conversations, leading up to the work you’ll be doing that helps you build confidence.

She has over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. ranging from residential treatment, acute inpatient, group home, school-based and even case management. Secoyia has a background in working with teens and adults who struggle with depression, stress, suicidal ideation/self-harm, anxiety and relational issues.

“In my line of work, I’ve learned that a great deal of people know how to solve their own problems, they just need a little push in the right direction. If you need a push (or even a kick) to get you started, look no further. You are not “broken” and need to be “fixed.” All of the tools you need for a brighter future lie within, you only need support with identifying and using them. Oftentimes, you just need someone to listen and not lecture. Allow me to lend an empathetic ear and facilitative mind to your needs.”
